Start with the school’s information
List the whole cost
Include school charges, books, clothing, transport and meals. Separate required items from optional purchases.
Add payment dates
Confirm the amounts and due dates with the school. Mark one-off costs separately from monthly spending.
Match the plan to your income
If income comes from harvests or trading, note when it is actually received. Leave room for other household essentials.
Example: a school-term target
The following figures are only a learning example, not school prices or a SACCO product.
- Total target
- 120,000 RWF
- Already set aside
- 30,000 RWF
- Still to prepare
- 90,000 RWF
- Time available
- 6 months
(120,000 − 30,000) ÷ 6 = 15,000. No interest or charges are included.
Before the term begins
Ticks are not sent to the SACCO. Download the sheet to keep your own written record.
If the target does not fit
Review the plan. Speak to the school early about any options it can confirm. Before considering borrowing, understand the full cost and how repayments would fit.
